Introduction “Throughout my life, my idols we always women: strong, creative and stylish women. They have always been present in my work, way back from childhood. The women have changed over the years - they have probably become braver and more confident. I wish to tell poetic stories through these women. Floating anecdotes about strength, innocence, humor, weakness, bravery and femininity. The woman becomes the actress in the piece, the core that everything else centers around. Inspiration comes from anywhere: from outside, inside, out of the blue! Often an idea appears totally unexpected. It may happen through an intricate font, a vintage wall paper with orange flowers, a stunning shade of teal on a movie poster, or an expression that is so visual it just HAS GOT to become a painting. To begin a painting, I make a foundation of a basic white paper collage on canvas which I then paint blue. From this surface I create the image with a mixture of collage, light, shadow and acrylic. The collage often consists of wall papers from all decates, from the 30ies and til now. I also use glue, pencil and charcoal to enhance the drawing, the space and the atmosphere.”
