IntroductionI have been experimenting with raw food and a more healthy lifestyle for the past year and a half. What drove me there? One factor was Michael Pollan's book, "In Defense of Food", where he touts a mostly plant-based diet as the most healthful. Two, some health issues of mine and my family were a wake-up call. My Dad's diagnosis of lymphoma was the last straw that motivated me to make a change. Why should I wait to get sick before taking the best care of my health? How can you go wrong with eating more fresh fruits and veggies, right? I decided to give Raw a try. I told myself it would just be a 30-day raw food experiment and see how it goes. I have had more energy, more motivation to exercise, really good sleep, but some challenges, too. So, here it is, a year and a half later, and I've evolved. I've learned so much about healthy eating, different ingredients, what works for me and what doesn't. The bottom line is that you have to figure out what works for you and that may take some experimentation and time. It will be worth it in the end to have all of the benefits of improved health!
