Introduction My name’s Keith, the red kangaroo, I was born on Invasion Day (January 26) 1970, I stand over two metres tall and can put a man on the ground with one good hit, not that I get into it, we’re pacifists really, us big reds. I guess when I think about it I’m one of the lucky ones because for my kind, just like the aboriginal people, who most people forget, are native to this place, when the English invaded our country they almost wiped us out, but I managed to escape into middle-class suburbia where I’ve mostly been living all that time, hanging around in houses or tucked-up in garages just watching the way this crazy social experiment in the south has evolved, or has it flatlined, over those years. I'm an easy-going sort of a macropod but I do get wound up by the lack of justice in the world and the rampant spread of technology at the cost of the development of community and the progress of social values. So here's a few yarns about the way I see the world and also my mate the Wookiee has travelled a bit himself and chips in with a few of his own yarns. So here goes ...
Interests Travel and the odd beer down the pub with mates. I like the water and have found myself inside the odd barrel.
Favorite Movies Don't slow down long enough to watch the telly these days but when I was a young joey I used to like Skippy, she was a bit of alright though the human actors truly stunted her development as a top class macropodic entertainer.
Favorite Music The sounds of the bush and the waves at the beach, the odd Slim Dusty number, I get a bit alarmed by the sound of choppers overhead.
Favorite Books The ballads of Banjo Paterson, I'm a bit of a sentimentalist really. Good Australian history writing and the polemics of John Pilger.
