| Introduction | My day job is a sales manager for a large electronics company. I have a very large section of the Midwest that I cover and generally travel from Tuesday to Friday each week. I discovered late in life that hiking was a great escape for me and my mind. My body seems to be made to walk long distances and my mind will quiet and relax. I have hiked all over the country in most all seasons and conditions. Mostly 2-3 day hikes, but have done 2 thru hikes, 2006 and 2007, of the entire smoky mountain AT for the NPS, evaluating trail conditions and previous trail work (5 and 6 days respectively). I have started to do and plan more long distance hikes. I have hiked in N or S Dakota, Minnesota, Arizona, Utah, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virgina. I strive to use the lightest weight gear possible, but it must be durable. I have recently begun replacing all my gear with products made in the USA. It is not enough for the company to be in the US, but I want to support product that are made and sewn in the US. I try to practice L.N.T in all aspects of my life. Reduce,Recycle, Reuse |
