| Introduction | I am an Army Brat which means I moved every three years until I reached adulthood. Since then I have settled in Virginia living in Virginia Beach and Richmond. I studied for my CMP in 2004 on my own without a study group. It was the first time in 14 years that I had picked up books to study! It took some time for me to get in the groove and flex the gray matter. Taking the CMP exam was about 4 years in the making; I had applied to sit for the exam and then let the acceptance lapse and had to reapply. I finally put my mind to it and was very happy to achieve the designation. Since then I have gone on to earn my Certified Meeting Manager (CMM) and one year from now I should finish a Masters program with Virginia Tech in Career and Technical Education. As a member of the Certification Committee for VAMPI I talk with many people who want to earn the designation. If you want to earn your designation I hope to help you make that journey! You never know where it might lead you! |
