Introduction	From an inauspicious beginning as a temp, Herbert Viola sneaks his way into Blue Moon, and into our hearts. At first, we like him merely because he is the object of Agnes's affection, but like his scruffy beard, Herbert Quentin Viola grows on us. This funny little "David Addison wannabe" comes to be a loyal buddy, and compatriot, especially during the fourth season when David sorely needs a friend and a sounding board. Not that Bert only listens -- he can astound us daily with his speeches and tirades. Bert goes where no other man would go to prove his loyalty...bachelor parties, vintage biplanes, very undercover stakeouts. As David freely admits "old Bert's been doing the work of three short men in this office"...and with almost manic enthusiasm, and a killer grin, Bert makes it hard to envision a Blue Moon without him. http://www.davidandmaddie.com/bert.htm
