| Introduction | I am an SMG Sister from a Congregation which was started in 1869 by Frances Taylor. In imitation of Jesus in the Incarnation who came to reach out to all people, we are called to witness to the dignity of the human person at every stage of life. As servants, we try to present to the world of our time the Word who is life and hope as Mary did. It is a challenging but inspiring vocation, to which I try to respond each day through my prayer and in the way I serve. I was born in Birmingham, but brought up in Liverpool, where I went to school. My mother, being Irish left us a lasting gift of faith and a love of Celtic culture. My father gifted us with his balanced view of life, a sense of humour, a love of poetry and an appreciation of the music of words, so we were richly endowed. My life as a teacher was varied and wonderful, and it has left me with a love of the enthusiasm for life which so many young people seem to possess. I studied in Rome and fell in love with the place. Much later, I was asked to teach in Kenya, in our school there, and taught in the formation house. I now write, do some research, give days of prayer if asked, and offer talks on the life of our Foundress. |
