| Introduction | Mari Adkins grew up in the foothills of southeastern Kentucky. Her writing has appeared in the e-zine Whispers of a Stone Circle, the e-zines associated with the 3Sides Literary Agency, the Stories from the Red Light District anthology of short stories, and in various projects associated with Apex Publications. Promise of Midnight, Midnight, Midnight's Children, Midnight's Heir, and Midnight's Shadow are all novels in the Harlan Vampire series. Midnight is due from Apex Book Company in March 2014. Mari is a founding member of the Write On! online writing community and is both a blogger and minion for Apex Publications. |

a door slides open in the floor, revealing a circular hole. upon closer inspection, a long tube can be seen. upon my hands and knees, the tube appears to be a wonderful slide! I thank the alien leader, scoot onto the slide, and push off to home.
