Introduction	To introduce myself, my name is Kevin. I am an American who moved to Cameroon in July 2011. The blog Café Oku is intended to document some of my experiences, observations, successes, and failures as a part of a project intended to certify coffee growers in the North West Region of Cameroon as organic. This effort was initiated and is being carried out by Mocha Joe's Coffee Roasters of Brattleboro, VT. Over the next several months, my job is going to be to serve as a liaison between the managers of Mocha Joe's in the United States and our partner farmers along with MJ's Director of Operations in Cameroon, Philip. While I have quite a bit of academic training in field crops and work experience in horticultural production, this will be my first chance to work with a cash crop like coffee, so I have a lot to learn. Add on that we'll be figuring out how to effectively communicate with our farmer partners on organic growing standards, how to organize our group of organic growers so that we can be easy to certify, and the day-to-day challenges of living in a new community and I think that I'll have plenty to post on in the upcoming months.
