Harrisville Sportsmen's Club

About me

Industry Non-Profit
Location Harrisville, Wisconsin, United States
Introduction In 1984, a small group of avid sportsmen concerned about conservation and its effect on the community organized a sportsmen’s club. The purpose was to promote fellowship among sportsmen and serve the community and youth of the area. During the years, club projects have included fish stocking, raising and releasing ducks, lake improvement projects, establishment of two piers and a boat landing and construction of nests for waterfowl habitat. Lange Park, located on the south shore of the Harrisville Millpond, was created in 1996, with land donated by Byron Lange. The park is enjoyed by the public and the site of the club’s annual Kid’s Fishing Day. Over 1400 students have experienced the benefits of the club’s hunter education course. For over 20 years the club has provided instructors, firearms and archery equipment for the class. In addition, annual scholarship opportunities are provided for local high school students pursuing conservation related fields. Working with the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department and Harrisville Lions Club, a community building, ballpark and playground facilities have been developed and maintained.
