| Introduction | Gene Deisinger, Ph.D. is a Managing Partner at Sigma Threat Management Associates. Dr. Deisinger is a licensed psychologist, a certified health service provider in psychology, and a certified law enforcement officer. He serves as Deputy Chief of Police & Director of Threat Management Services at Virginia Tech. Dr. Deisinger developed the threat management process at Iowa State University and served as the primary threat manager since that team's inception in 1994. He has personally managed threat cases for a broad range of public and private figures. He has provided consultation and training to a number of organizations, helping them to implement integrated case management strategies. Dr. Deisinger co-authored The Handbook for Campus Threat Assessment & Management Teams, a practical resource recognized as exemplifying best practices for operating campus threat assessment teams. In 2008, Dr. Deisinger was appointed as a subject matter expert for the joint project by the US Dept. of Education, the Secret Service, and the FBI, which resulted in a monograph entitled Campus Attacks: Targeted Violence Affecting Institutions of Higher Education. |
