| Introduction | I am a heart mom to a 5 y/o daughter with a congenital heart defect (Pulmonary Atresia/PAIVS) and two healthy sons (4 & 2). I created this blog because I found it helpful beyond measure to read other people's experiences of motherhood, parenting, and marriage to get me through some really tough days, so I figured why not add my voice to the mix. Not to mention, that being a heart mom can sometimes feel a hell of a lot different than being a "regular" mom. And just like other heart moms who are lucky enough, like me, to be off their carepage (for now anyway) and are raising their heart kids and their healthy kids -- I'm just trying to hang in there with it all. While being a heart mom and a mother in general has undoubtedly changed my life forever, I still try to maintain some semblance of my identity before October 23, 2009 when I got my daughters diagnosis while pregnant. I've always leaned on my humor to get me through pretty much everything in life and since there tends to be a fair amount of randomness in my life (both good and bad) -- at the end of the day, I figured, maybe I should start writing it all down. |
