| Interests | A retired astronomer who in 2011 was cited by Kepler's Exoplanetary Telescope for being one within a group of 20 colleagues in the discovery of a new solar system in orbit around an (our) Sun-sized yellow-white star near Delta Cygnus. Still awaiting confirmation of the NASA and ground-based observatory data, additional system observations may indicate yet another Earth-sized planet in orbit around the star, and/or th star itself may have an orbiting companion star - an eclipsing binary star. In early 2018, Mr. Vanderbilt was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by CalTech/NASA/Kepler for his discovery. |
