Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?

I can't say that I've ever tasted a penny, but it's very possible that they contain traces of iron. Since you taste iron-containing-blood when you lose a tooth, it would make sense for one to reminisce about tooth-losing days while chewing on a penny. Which I hope very few people do. Can you imagine how unsanitary coins are?
