Introduction Bob is a retired businessman who, with his wife and a friend, founded a 501(c)(3) public charity in 2007 named "Saving Lives In Chatham County" or "SLICC" for short. (www.SLICC.org) SLICC is totally staffed and run by volunteers who are trying to change the current dismal one-in-ten cardiac arrest survival rate - where 'survival' means getting out of the hospital with your major brain functions intact. SLICC also is trying to reduce the incidence of disability that results when stroke victims don't get the prompt attention they need to make a full recovery. In retirement, Bob became an EMT and then a Paramedic. Bob has worked on ALS ambulances and in a Level I Trauma Center. He was an AHA instructor for BLS and PALS. Bob is a member of the advisory board of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation. SLICC's research has been published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
