| Introduction | Best-selling author Randy Leffingwell has written and photographed more than 40 books. No subject is closer to his heart than Porsche. Randy has a strong relationship with the company, and while researching and interviewing for "Porsche 60 Years" (MBI, 2008), Porsche's head of archives, Dieter Landenberger, and Porsche's photo archivist, Jens Torner, invited Randy to produce the definitive history of Porsche's motorsports activities. Needless to say, Randy was delighted to accept. This highly anticipated book will entail months of intensive research and interviews with drivers, engineers, designers, mechanics, and Porsche executives, and it will involve Randy traveling extensively throughout Germany, Europe, and the United States. "Porsche Racing History" (the working title) will be published by David Bull Publishing in 2013. This is the ideal project for Randy, who for three decades has been writing about Porsche. His other books include "Porsche Legends", "The Illustrated Porsche Buyers Guide", "Porsche 911 Color Buyer's Guide", and "Porsche 911: Excellence by Design." His celebrated "Porsche 60 Years" is now in softcover as "Porsche: A History of Excellence." |
