| Introduction | Josiah Gulden, baritone, recently performed opera and musical theatre selections for 10,000 listeners in a solo engagement at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. The Star Tribune hailed his performance as "impressive," citing his "handsome voice and strong stage presence." Leading roles in Kiss Me Kate, Bye Bye Birdie, Cinderella, and To the Moon, an acclaimed new musical by Boston-based composer Nicholas Jacobson-Larson. Josiah recently made his début with the Indiana University Opera Theater as Leander in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges. A two-time regional winner of the Nat'l Association of Teachers of Singing competition, and has given multiple performances which have been recorded for broadcast on Classical Public Radio. He is a graduate of Bethel University (B. Mus ‘08), where he studied under Dr. RubyAnn Poulson, a protegée of Eleanor Steber. He has also worked with such master voice teachers as Shari Anderson, Virginia Zeani, and Eiddwen Harrhy. Josiah is currently an Associate Instructor of Voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he continues his vocal studies under the tutelage of Paul Kiesgen, and is a member of Carol Vaness’ Opera Workshop. |
