| Introduction | I come from a farming family, well not exactly, but my grandparents were the first generation to abandon the fields and move to an urban setting. When I say "I'm just occupying my hands," I am referring to those farmer hands that I have inherited and that now make little sense in the big city, be it New York, Chicago, Madrid, or Sao Paulo... As a result, I sometimes find myself jittery and this after I have scrubbed clean my apartment, done my laundry, and cooked. So finally, I made peace with the fact that I can write. There is a certain level of pressure with the label "writer" and being the typical stubborn Leo that cannot be expected or told to do anything, I decided to approach this "gift" as any kind of chore that I find enjoyable - once it's done. |
| Interests | Latin dances - all of them, but primarily mambo, bachata, Brazilian samba and tango, yoga, all sorts of outdoor sports that don't involve falling down (so no bungee jumping), travel, reading (for pleasure and work), writing, learning new languages |
| Favorite movies | Kieslowski's Trilogy and Decalogue, most of Almodovar's stuff, the more recent Woody Allen and, especially, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Lucia y el sexo, Lovers of the Arctic Circle, No mires abajo, El regalo de Ana |
| Favorite music | Anything that makes me want to either unfold my yoga mat or start hopping around. |
| Favorite books | Lately Eat, Pray, Love and Paulo Coelho's Onze minutos and O Zahir because they asked the questions I was too afraid to ask. |
The first time you had your shoes taken off - how surprised were you to see that you still had toes?
As tall as I could match my imagination to the length of my fingernails :)
