IntroductionBodiverse (2007-present) is written, recorded, drawn, performed, & edited by Melanie Miller. When she started bodiverse, her primary mediums were dance, choreography, & poetry; she was purusing an MFA in Creative Writing from Naropa University and was the artistic director of Junction Dance Theatre, producing multimedia stage, public realm, and site specific works... Her dedication to exploring the body and language and body-language landed this project idea in her sketchbook while take a class at Naropa taught by Kristin Prevallet... In 2008, Miller was disabled - physically and cognitively - by a rare neurological disorder, Transverse Myelitis... The bodiverse project has been on hold since then, while she worked on her "recovery" - including a total relapse over New Year's 2011... Since the beginning of her Neuro Detour, Miller found her artistic voice again in painting, and eventually in writing again - accepting her new brain as her collaborator... She was invited by James Oliver Gallery (JOG) in Philadelphia to present a video art gallery presentation of bodiverse in the group show, Femme, opening June 18, 2011.
