IntroductionI just want to say that I am not a Star Wars geek. I don't even like the first three movies and I've only seen the last three from start to finish a couple of times. I am, however, the mother of three Star Wars geeks who have dubbed me "Darth Mom." I'm not sure why because I'm a pretty nice mom -- at least I think I am!
InterestsI'd rather list things I'm NOT interested in: Cooking (although I love reading certain blog posts with yummy pictures about cooking. I guess I'm interested in food--just not cooking it or cleaning up after cooking it), cleaning, housework in general(although I like doing laundry--but not putting it away), politics (I hate how it is so polarizing--each side hates the other side-- they say whatever they think they need to say to get elected--they think we're stupid--etc. It doesn't matter anyway because the federal goverment is corrupt and run by special interests. I do still vote however), talk radio (I used to listen to it all the time but then I became disgusted with politics), fashion (although I like Project Runway! I hope Kenley doesn't make it to Bryant Park this season -- she's so mean!), mean people, ignorance (especially in myself), what other people think of me (actually that's a lie. I do care about what others think of me but that is hindering me from being my true self so I'm trying not to care what other people think of me), people who lie, Shaquille O'Neal, hmm--what else?, ugh, that's enough who cares
Favorite movies(Not Star Wars). I'd rather list TV shows I like: This summer I watched the "Band of Brothers" miniseries on dvd. It was sooo good!, Also the first 4 seasons of "24"--if you watch them on dvd back to back--unbelievable! Although you have to have 96 hours to watch it--that's a little draining and btw the last two seasons sucked, The Office!!!
Favorite musicDid you know that the London Symphony Orchestra has a 6-disc set of Star Wars music--one for each movie? Can you imagine what it is like to listen to this 6-disc 420 minutes set(that's 7 hours people!)on a long drive-say-a family vacation? Do you?? Seriously--DO YOU?? DARN YOU GEORGE LUCAS!!, The Shins, Third Day, Jason Mraz, Spongbob Squarepants Movie Soundtrack (Hey kids-- can we take a break from Star Wars and listen to this disc now ? Please? Pleeeeeease!), Fiona Apple, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Christmas Music(but not in October--only in December!)
Favorite booksFavorite books from my childhood: Nancy Drew series, The Black Stallion series, All Things Bright and Beautiful series, Little House on the Prarie series, all Jane Austen, all Jack London, many, many others when I had more time to read. Favorite Books Today: The Message (the bible in contemporary language), The Stand, Mystic River, The Prince of Tides, all Jane Austen, the dictionary, Band of Brothers (see favorite movies section), The Shack (not a sports biography on Shaquille O'Neal like my husband thought when I told him what I was reading--why would I read that? not interested!)
