Introduction	Thomas S. Kidd is professor of history and Senior Fellow, Institute for Studies of Religion, at Baylor University. His most recent books are Patrick Henry: First Among Patriots, and God of Liberty: A Religious History of the American Revolution. He is writing a biography of George Whitefield, due out in fall 2014 with Yale University Press.
