| Introduction | Grew up in LA admiring local radio deejays like Wink Martindale, Sam Riddle, Gene Weed, Jimmy Rabbit, Dick Whittinghill, Johnny Hayes. Because of them I got into this business and have been on the air non-stop for 35 years. I am grateful for a career in this business although it has/is/continues to change drastically. I'm also grateful that I had an opportunity to taste radio when there was still some art and fun and we actually cared about the audience. If only, somehow, we could re-adopt those attitudes and still satisfy Wall Street. Pipe dream? Maybe. But it'll carry me to retirement if I continue to hope. |
