Location	Reading, Pennsylvania, United States
Introduction	I am the mother in a family of five-ish in a mid-size Pennsylvania city that was recently named the poorest in the US. We post about gardening, food security, frugality, thrifting, alternative economies, urban homesteading, interesting books and films. We are "preppers." We think the future is uncertain, and we want to prepare for that. We have experienced a variety of personal emergencies, and our preparedness has helped us through them. Key to cryptic references: DD15 and DD18 are internet shorthand for my "Dear Daughters." DD18 is away at college, but we still help feed and support her. SO is "Significant Other," my male partner of 15 years. He works in Philadelphia, and will soon be living there - splitting the family because there were no jobs here. "Grandma" is my mother - we moved into her house in July of 2009, to clean up her House O' Hoarding and care for her as she declines into vascular dementia. She requires constant supervision.
