| Introduction | I believe cinema has the magical power to capture the imagination, provoke the mind, and move the soul, and I have written endlessly about the art form ever since I learned to write. As a ‘critical studies’ major at Columbia College Chicago, it is my goal to harness my passion for film, and produce writing that effectively communicates the inherent importance of visual storytelling to the human experience, in a way that is entertaining, intelligent, and innovative. In Fall 2006, I was hired by the Columbia Chronicle as both their first paid columnist as well as their first weekly film critic. I’ve written reviews for the paper every week, subsequently scoring a biweekly spot on the college radio station—my film review show “Film Scope”—and getting the chance to interview various prominent figures in the industry, such as actor Will Smith and director Nick Cassavetes. I have also worked as an Assistant A&E Editor for the paper, and have been a production assistant on various film sets. |
