IntroductionHi and welcome to my blog, Why am I interesting? Or am I even interesting? I have decided to start a blog about my life as a twenty seven year old normal(ish) female who lives life with Cerebral Palsy. I say normal(ish) because what is normal anyway? Mentally I do feel like I am the same as the majority of women my age, however physically I understand that the same majority do not have someone showering them every day, do not have to be helped to eat a meal out by their husband and can wear high heels on a night out. How I actually do these physical things, and believe me I do them, is what I am hoping you will find interesting. My blogs will hopefully make you laugh and cry, sometimes even at the same time, think and feel and inspire you to reach your goals despite your own personal barriers. My life at the moment is so fast paced, it is flashing by and I have so many positive and negative experiences I can share and hopefully you can relate to these situations too. So, this is my normal(ish) life in a nutshell, enjoy!
InterestsThis part feels like a CV for a job interview, I would write all the cliché things that an employer would find the least bit interesting, such as going out with friends and long walks on the beach of course we all like those things. I used to feel it was important to have lots of amazing interests but actually I am finding that the smallest of interests make me who I am and my life more interesting. Plus, who has time to have lots of interests with work and home life! My dogs are like my babies and I wouldn’t envisage life any other way. Matilda, a Jack Russell who is five, my lapdog, my friend and my silent ear to bend! Then we have Jarvis, a cocker spaniel puppy who has turned our world upside down with his sock fetish and cheeky ways, we love him to bits! Two years ago I joined a Slimming World group and this has also impacted my life in many ways, not only have I lost three stone in weight, purely with healthy eating but I have also gained so much confidence personally. I love nothing more than sitting in the Kitchen with my carers and cookbooks and rustling up healthy dishes to try. Since then I have discovered more interests such as, going the gym (when I can be bothered getting there) but once I am there I do actually enjoy it. I would now never go out without my make-up on (yes even to the gym) and I love shopping for new clothes. The events over the last two years have dramatically changed me and I feel now I am a different person, I love to make new friends and am quite forward if I see someone that I would like to talk to, although I am very choosy about who I let in to my life. Even with the above interests I still like nothing more than curling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watching trashy TV, well don’t most girls!
Favorite moviesBeing a part-time law student and a girly girl, I obviously love ‘Legally Blonde’, I actually do think I am Elle Woods and have been known to go into Uni wearing a bright pink ‘Barbie’ jumper and Matilda is my little ‘Bruiser’, yes I do dress her up. For anyone that hasn’t seen ‘Inside I am dancing’ I highly recommend it, this film gives a great insight into how disabled people live their lives with care. It has great humour in it and it captures the truth brilliantly. Also ‘The theory of everything’ about Stephen Hawking is a really inspirational story. Stereotypically I am a huge fan of a good old weepy chick flick like ‘The Bodyguard’ and ‘Pretty Woman’. Crappy thrillers are also one of my top watches, such as ‘Final Destination’ ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘Saw’, they go on forever with no real ending and scare me to death for no reason.
Favorite musicMusic wow well I was brought up on Motown and Pop my mum was always dancing around with the hoover or the duster to Diana Ross and the Supremes ‘‘Chain Reaction’, or Tom Jones ‘Sex Bomb’. That combined with my dads love of Roy Orbison and Charlie Landsborough has given me a real mashed up taste in music. I am not a fan of following particular artists although I do love a Beyonce concert, I am more into songs that make me feel something, whoever they are by. I love to dance to a good tune, I feel like I am turning into my mum when I say I like something you can sing the words to. I also love to listen to Radio 2 I know, at the ripe old age of 27, shhhhhhhh! Being from The Wirral (Liverpool area) I have to love the Beetles, its in my blood I probably know all the words to all the songs and will be passing that down to the next generation. I am not ashamed to say me and Dave have seen Steps in concert, but I think Peter Andre might be a cheese too far.
Favorite booksNormally have my head stuck in law books (studying law degree part-time) and feel a bit guilty if I read anything other than a fat textbook or some theory. Other than that I am not a big reader but I do like to dabble into Rohl Dahl’s adult stories or a juicy conspiracy theory. I also get sucked into the celebrity magazines, especially the fad diets and who is cheating on who headlines.
