| Introduction | Cooking Sprouts is a children’s vegetable gardening and cooking program in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Twenty 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders will spend their summer Saturdays growing, cooking and eating fresh food. Cooking Sprouts’ mission is to engender a culture of healthy eating at PS24. Children will plant, tend and harvest a wide variety of herbs and vegetables, more than 45 different varieties, from Boston Bibb lettuce to an acorn squash. In an outdoor kitchen set up on the playground, children will learn to grill, sauté, smoke, roast and poach fresh, local ingredients. |
