| Introduction | Atlanta native Kupenda Auset (Joette Harland Crosby) is a cultural historian, writer, and researcher whose involvement in Atlanta’s cultural arts landscape has landed her on radio, tv, and in print with appearances on WAGA Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta and 91.9FM WCLK and with recognition from the Atlanta Journal & Constitution. Kupenda formerly worked at the National Black Arts Festival and was founder / producer of House of Life Dinner Theatre & Supper Club. In addition to volunteerism and Board Membership at SWEEAC (Southwest Ecuemenical Emergency Assistance Center), she has served as an Atlanta Ambassador for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Several years ago Kupenda began researching and writing about Adrienne Herndon. She is currently completing a book about Adrienne Herndon's life. Kupenda is a graduate of Spelman College and later atteneded Clark Atlanta University's M.A. Africana Women's Studies / History program where she concentrated on Comparative Literature & Culture. She is the mother of two adult daughters. |
