| Introduction | Nazareth Illam, Home for the Mentally Ill, is a unit of the Congregation of the Servants of Charity. It is situated at the remote mountain area at Thalavadi, Erode District in Tamil Nadu at the Southern part of India. The mission for the Mentally Ill began on 21st May, 2009. This a Home that cares for the mental health of the people who are neglected and abandoned by the families. Our focus is to rescue them with the help of the family members or local police, identify their illness with the help of the Psychologists and Psychiatrists of the Erode Government General Hospital. We accompany them with love and assure them the hope of recovering from their mental illness. We provide them boarding and lodging to improve their quality of life, assure their dignity, peaceful environment, free food, medicines, treatment, counseling, psychotherapy and reunite them with their families and look for job opportunities once they are recovered. |
