'Monkey' by Wu Ch'eng En; Harry Potter; The Northern Lights by Philip Pullman; Tale of Time City; Chrestomanci; Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jone; everything Phil Rickman writes; everything Reginald Hill wrote (sad to be using the past tense here); Isabel Allende - very rich stuff hers! You're trapped in a well with a goat and a slinky. Describe how you will escape.
Milk the goat (or make friends with it if it's male.) Train the slinky to work backwards. Yell like hell. Pinch myself till I wake up.
