| Introduction | Luc Messinezis was born in Athens, Greece in 1977. Despite is scientific background (Diploma in Chemical Engineering) he changed direction and now holds an MA in sound arts from the University of the Arts, London. Since, he has engaged professionally with sound arts practice and research. As an artist and researcher he aims to explore sound’s potential as a medium for artistic expression. Luc’s conceptual interests include aural awareness, art history, anthropology, science and philosophy among others. In his work he uses the concrete audible reality as a tool for stimulating the imagination and challenging the perception of the audience in various formats such as sonic, installation, audio-visual art and performance pieces. As a PhD candidate at the Ionian University - Faculty of Audio and Visual Arts, Luc currently scrutinises 'Aural Simulacra'. |
