| Introduction | Gerald was born in a rural area of western Uganda. He holds a bachelors degree in journalism and Communication from Makerere University. Currently, Gerald works as a political reporter for The Daily Monitor, Uganda's largest independent daily. While at Makerere University, Gerald was a news editor of the university online newspaper, The Ivory Post, and a talk-show host on campus radio station. His senior dissertation ‘News and politics’ examining the media coverage of 2006 presidential election received special recognition by Makerere University. He was one of eight journalists from Africa who won 2009 World Journalism Institute Scholarship, during which he attended NABJ convention in Tampa, Florida. He is a final graduate student of International Relations, Makerere University. Gerald is an advocate of democracy, good governance and Human Rights. He has written extensively for a broader public audience and recent stories on politics, democracy, corruption and HIV/AIDS in Uganda, have been published by The Standard (Kenya), The Citizen (Tanzania) The Nation (Kenya), as well as the Daily Monitor |
