| Introduction | There were a number of events that took place during my years with the Dubois County court system where local media and others offered their spins on goings-on. Rarely was the full story told. The programs I ran experienced monumental successes. I delivered one of the most successful drug court programs in the state to Dubois County. Then I watched as it was run into the ground. So I went to Corrections, fixed the finances, the staffing, the programming -- five years of progress in less than a year-and-a-half. And then the same individuals sought more and more control. So I walked. These blog entries will be the rest of that story that never got told. At times, I may detour and write on other matters, particularly current events and practices in the local criminal justice system. As a veteran probation officer, Court Alcohol and Drug Program Director, Drug Court Coordinator, and Community Corrections Director, I feel my point of view has some value and validity. I am not sure there will be a lot of readers. All of this may turn out to be more of a cathartic exercise than anything else. If that is the case, catharsis is a good thing. |
