| Introduction | Since 2002, I have worked primarily in conflict-affected areas alongside the UN, I/NGOs, and other stakeholders. As a war victim, I experienced displacement during the 1990 influx from the northern province when Muslims were evacuated by the LTTE. In addition to my personal experiences, I have valuable expertise in addressing both natural and man-made disasters, such as the 2004 tsunamis and the 2009 Vanni influx of IDPs at the end of the Sri Lankan civil war. I worked closely with IDPs in the Manic Farm IDP camps on protection monitoring, gap analysis, and emergency response for victims. I have over 22 years of experience in humanitarian response, recovery and development phases. My career has involved managing donor-funded programs, coordinating diverse field teams, and engaging in baseline assessments, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of project cycles in both conflict and post-conflict situations in Sri Lanka. Additionally, I have coordinated with government agencies, NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, religious leaders, youth, and victims to implement integrated program and project approaches, incorporating both soft and hard components with conflict sensitivity concepts. |
| Interests | In the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka, our focus should be on the chamber of commerce, given their well-established presence and rapid approach to work. By empowering women and youth through encouragement and promoting economic justice, we can foster more harmonious relationships among diverse groups of inhabitants. This approach will improve lifestyles and livelihoods, ensuring market access with dignity and linking diverse groups of people. This strategy is highly recommended as it aligns with the target group and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 17. I have similar experience in empowering women through market access initiatives aimed at fostering peace and reconciliation. |
