Boys and Literacy

Introduction	Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. I am a graduate student at Teachers College, Columbia University, specializing in Literacy. This is my final term of the program, and I am thrilled to be having an opporunity to research a topic of my interest - boys and literacy. Prior to coming to New York City, I have taught in a suburban school in Toronto, Canada for three years. Having taught in different grade levels, from 4 to 8, and was exposed to diversity among students, I became extremely interested in how some developmental differences, namely social construction, psychological, and biological, could have the possibility to hinder learning behavior, abilities and patterns among boys. In this blog, I am going to update the journey of my research by describing, synthesizing, analyzing, and reflecting on a case study that I am conducting at a public school located in New York City. This blog is designed to invite all of you who are interested in the topic to add feedbacks and raise questions as we "travel" together for the next three months.
