Introduction I am a mother of two beautiful young girls and a full-time student who works part-time in the restaurant industry as a server. I just recently finished writing a Masters thesis on the intersection of illness and identity in critical illness autobiographies, academic "treatments" of politicized illnesses such as breast cancer and AIDS. I was recently offered acceptance to the Theory & Criticism PhD at UWO where I plan on continuing my investigation of embodiment, pathology, and self-representation. My reason for writing this blog is twofold: in the spirit of critical self-representation I write it as a historical record of and critical engagement with my own frustratingly undiagnosed and largely invisible health problems; and I write it in order to create a central resource for others who are interested in the social, political, and personal ramifications of invisible yet often debilitating illnesses.
