| Introduction | I was born in 1965 in the Netherlands. Joke is a old fashioned Dutch name. In my late teens in Holland I experimented with crochet and knitted lace but the resulting lace was never fine enough for me. So that is when I found Bobbin Lace. I travelled the world over as a flight engineer for KLM, during which time I met my husband and we moved to Haywards Heath in West-Sussex. Unfortunately study and work didn’t leave lot of time and it wasn’t until 2004, when both my children started school that I picked up lace making again. I am a member of The Lace Society, Design for Lace, The Martlets Lacemakers and a committee member of Mid Downs Lacemakers. In the last couple of years I have been helping Jean Eke, Sandi Wood and Angela Brown, with the booklets 'A Regency Collection'. |
