Gender Male
Occupation Landscape Painter
Location Logan, Utah
Introduction Clem began his formal art training at the age of five when his mother, recognizing his talent, signed him up for private art lessons with a locally renowned teacher. As a daily exercise to improve his perception he was made to practice still-lifes while his sister practiced piano. This familial push and encouragement, coupled with frequent trips to the museum where his grandmother was a docent, helped mold young Clem into a burgeoning artist who, as a youth, would go on to earn numerous awards, honors and achievements. At thirteen Clem became intensely interested in studying the figure, which study largely occupied the next ten years of his life. Although this interest remains even today, the passion was replaced when he was introduced to Plein Air painting. Having gone through pre-med and spending seven years in the medical field the discovery of Plein Air pushed him to give up all other ambitions to pursue his artistic nature. Clem has a BFA from the University of Utah and an MFA from Utah State University.
