| Introduction | In a quaint leafy shire in a small island kingdom two friends, Gloworm and Beaver, often meet. They live in a small half-sized boat that bobs up and down on a wide and ancient river. Gloworm and Beaver like to sit on the top shelf in the saloon where they talk and watch the goings on of the boat people through the half-sized window. "Is the whole world filled with long, thin boats?" Gloworm asked one day. "I think it must be" Beaver replied, for that was all he could ever remember seeing. "Do you think, that perhaps, we should go and see for ourselves?" Gloworm responded a little unsure of himself. "An adventure?" Beaver enquired. "I haven't been on an adventure for a while. Not since I fell off the shelf and the cat tried to eat me." "Yes, an adventure. I think I would like that" Gloworm replied "but perhaps we can avoid the cats". And so Gloworm and Beaver packed a bag with all that they thought they would need and set off to see what lay beyond the long, thin boats that bobbed in the currents of the that ancient river. |
