About me

Introduction I’m Matt Coward, a 22-year-old birder from Leicestershire. I enjoy birdwatching on my local patch Willington Gravel Pits and going on birding day trips further afield especially to Norfolk, Devon and Yorkshire.  I’ve been lucky enough to visit several different countries such as Canada, USA, Mauritius and Iceland and have been to Spain and Costa Rica specifically in search of birds.  My life list stands at 836 and my British list at 254. I’m often in East Devon on holiday and treat this area as something of my second patch – regularly visiting Bowling Green Marsh and the Axe Estuary, as well as occasional trips to Berry Head and Portland. My biggest rarity was the Spurn Siberian Accentor in October 2016 and my favourite bird was Snowcap in Costa Rica in September 2018.
