| Introduction | I'm a born-again amateur baker! As a child i used to spend countless hours in the kitchen with my Grandma, and i managed to get quite a repertoire of homecooked sweet treats, breads and biscuits by the time i was around 14 years old. Practice certainly makes perfect where baking is concerned and after leaving home my childhood talents went unpracticed for quite a few years, until such times as i'd all but forgotten that i could ever bake at all. I'd try the odd recipe here and there, usually with peculiarly disasterous results (such as loaves of bread which could easily be classified as a lethal weapon! A brick thrown at the head would likely hurt less than one of my loaves at that time). Anyhow, recently i've been reaquainted with my LOVE of food (especially sweet, decadent treats), and i've found myself trying and, somewhat, *succeeding* in the baking department a lot more lately. So now, with my love for baking re-kindled i've donned my kitchen gloves and taken the challenge to re-learn how to bake. My attempts may not all be successful, but with practice, care and a set of honest and critically analytical tastebuds, i'll try to rise the ranks to baking bliss. |
