Introduction	I began as an independent financial advisor in 1990 with a mutual fund and life insurance license. Business prospered and within 4 years, we became a mutual fund dealer, Independent Planning Group. We are fortunate to sponsor over 200 independent financial advisors. In 1995, 3 partners and I formed Winfund Software Corp to develop a back office system for dealers and advisors. We introduced our first software product in May 1997 and it became the leading back office system in Canada by 2000. In 1996, our associates wanted us to provide life insurance products. We formed IPG Insurance as our managing general agency (MGA) and formed strategic relationships with several Canadian life insurance companies. In 2007, we decided to form our own mutual fund company, Brigata Capital Mgmt and allowed financial advisors to buy equity in the fund manager. Today, we are licensed across Canada. Our mandate for the future will continue to be a dealership and MGA that respects the independent financial advisor and helps them grow/maintain their businesses.
