Introduction | Grew up on a dairy farm in New Zealand, schooled at Ardmore primary http://www.ardmore.school.nz then Papakura High School http://www.papakurahigh.school.nz . Worked for the Forestry, then came to Australia in 1966 for a working holiday. Worked in the smelter at Mt Morgan Mine, Queensland Rail at Edengalba on the Relay Gang, Mourilyn Sugar Mill, St Johnston Sugar Mill, Garnet Lincoln Surveyors. I was Called up for National Service, I went to Vietnam with 104 Signal Sqn Royal Australian Signals in 1968-1969. On discharge worked for Brian Thomas Builders, Hillman Motors and 28 years with Capricornia Regional Electricity Board (now Ergon) Retired in Aug 1999 and continued my voluntary work. In July 1990 I became an Australian Citizen and in the 2006 Queens Birthday Honours I was awarded an Order of Australia (OAM) for working for Veterans and in many rolls in the civilian community. I still have an avid interest in Veteran Wellfare, helping anyone with computer problems, designing websites and enjoying wine, gardening and travel. |
