IntroductionI started Life Chef to help fill the gap between what people know they should be eating, and what they actually eat. Healthful foods can be fun, fast, economical and delicious.
InterestsPrepareing healthful, succulent, nourishing dishes is my passion. I’m committed to making food a sensuous, enjoyable and entertaining medium to bring health, happiness and a full belly into your life. You’ll find posts for upcoming classes and recipes at my blog (www.lifechef.blospot.com) or at www.EatLocalAmerica.coop where I focus on local, seasonal and regional foods and events. Look for monthly Life Chef classes for the entire family at Saint Philip AME Church. Monthly Life Chef classes are also held at Sevananda Natural Foods Market www.Sevananda.coop where I teach the Natural Foods Series as well as write articles for the co-op’s monthly newsletter Co-Options. Also, check out my restaurant reviews and other industry insider insights at www.FoodBuzz.com and until we meet again, bon appetite!
Favorite moviesI am an alumnae of the School of Culinary Arts at the Art Institute, and I have worked for a decade in restaurants, private homes and catering biusinesses including award-winning restuarants Dish, the Food Studio, Nikolai's Roof, Lush and the Bold American Catering Company.
Favorite musicMy journalism career began after graduating from Florida A&M University (Rattlers STRIKE!) and pursuing a freelance career which includes writing/editing for publications such as Essence, Upscale, Dossier, Atlanta CityMag, Rolling Out, Crossroads News, AOL Living and many others. I also had the honor of being Editor in Chief of Fierce magazine, nominated for Utne's Best New Magazine 2003, and have been published in a few anthologies, the latest of which -- Who's Your Mama: The Unsung Voices of Women and Mothers with Foreward by Rebecca Walker, edited by Yvonne Bynoe -- will be released in May of 2009.
Favorite booksAfter years of working in the food and writing industries, I found a way to marry my passions through Life Chef, where I use whole foods and fresh ingredients to make healthful eating easy, fun, affordable and totally do-able.
