OccupationOne of those Trial Lawyers everyone loves to hate....until they NEED one.
LocationBaton Rouge, Louisiana
IntroductionI have been a trial lawyer for nearly 40 years. Representing clients in courtrooms all across the country may be the only thing I’ve ever learned to do with some degree of proficiency. After securing both my B.A. in Journalism (1980) and my law degree (1983) from Louisiana State University, I was selected to attend and was graduated from the Trial Lawyers College (TLC) in Dubois, Wyoming; Class of 2002. I am honored to currently serve TLC as a member of the Board of Directors, as TLC Treasurer and as part of the teaching Faculty of the College, an institution wholly devoted to obtaining justice for the injured, the accused and the least powerful among us. Amid the worldly clamor of my life, nothing is more important to me than my affiliation with TLC. From the TLC-people comprising that amazing place, I have absorbed life-lessons at Thunderhead Ranch which allowed me --- over 40 years of practice--- to evolve into a person with an authentic center. Better late than never. --- J.R.
InterestsAs far as hobbies and life outside of work are concerned I first have to wonder if life still exists outside of WORK. I am told it does but this news reaches me as merely a rumor. I enjoy the arts -- movies, plays, art shows-- and social nights out revolving around dinner and friends. Nights spent simply at home are totally fine with me. I love to travel and see new things but I like coming home best. I live with my mutts on a lot of acreage in a rural part of the Parish north of Baton Rouge, so it's serene and peaceful. My brothers and I grew up hunting - fishing - hiking and camping and I still enjoy all of that ---- although to be honest my "roughing it" days are pretty much behind me. I am well educated and well read ---always in the middle of some book or another. LSU sports ---particularly football-- is a big part of my life and during any Fightin’ Tiger game my ass is gonna either be in Death Valley or in front of the tube watchin' the lads. When I dance I look like an idiot.....thus, I don't dance. (OK....I just realized this is supposed to be a LIST and not a narrative. Let us put this behind us and soldier on.)
