| Introduction | I've worked in the restaurant industry on and off since 1998. When an opportunity presented itself in 2007, I moved to Santiago, Chile to open, co-own and operate an American Sports Bar & Restaurant. That experience changed my life forever. I moved back from Chile bi-lingual, with a passion for the wine industry and a continued interest in the food, beverage and hospitality industry. I started this blog because not only do I love to write (I have a BS in Journalism from the University of Oregon), I am fascinated with people and their behavior in social situations. The restaurant/hospitality industry can bring out the best in people as well as their absolute worst. My hope is that sharing my stories with the public will open their eyes as to what the hospitality industry professionals deal with on a regular basis, as well as a reminder to treat others with respect, kindness and patience. When I began this blog my goal was mostly to inform. After a year or so, it has developed into a much more personal blog: sometimes heartfelt, sometimes stressed out, a lot of times comedic, but hopefully - all of the time - keeping humanity at its core. |
