| Introduction | I am a 10th generation South Carolinian, who grew up on my family’s farm in Sumter County. I worked in federal nutrition programs including at USDA as a Clinton Administration Appointee, serving as Associate Administrator of the Food and Nutrition Service. After that I returned home to the South as a consultant and entrepreneur. I founded Carolina FoodPros, a business dedicated to preserving South Carolina’s culinary history and promoting artisan growers and producers and Culinary Tours of Charleston. I am a recipient of a Kellogg Foundation Food and Society Fellowship (2003-05)and a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier. Acadmenic training: UNC-G B.S. in Foods and Nutrition; M.S.in Education from Virginia Tech and a M.P.A.in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. My current consulting work includes farm to school, local food systems and sustainable agriculture. |
