| Introduction | I teach theology and ethics at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. My research focuses on new technologies and their potential for human enhancement. My most recent book is Transhumanism and Transcendence: Christian Hope in an Age of Technological Enhancement, from Georgetown University Press. My previous books include Design and Destiny: Jewish and Christian Perspectives on Human Germline Modification (edited, published March 2008 by MIT Press). I see these developments in technology as posing new questions not just for theology but for all human beings: what does it mean to be human, and how far will we go in modifying our humanity? |
