Occupation Quilt Artist
Location Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa
Introduction I have been quilting since 1984, started off doing all the traditional techniques by hand. Began teaching patchwork, applique, quilting and embroidery from home in 1988. I have no formal art training, but learnt by trial and error! I started designing my own quilts in 1989. Taught at National level for the first time in Cape Town at the 1994 National Quilt Festival. I became involved in Quilters Guild Committees and served as Chairlady from 1998 - 2000 of Dias Quilters' Guild in Port Elizabeth and also as the President of the South African Quilters Guild 2002 -2004. Was the Chairlady of the organising committee of the 2006 National Festival held in Port Elizabeth. Have won various awards at National Quilt Festivals in South Africa since 1994. Won Best Machine Workmanship and Best on Show - Art Quilts at the 2011 National Quilt Festival held in Stellenbosch, South Africa. I continue to teach machine applique, embroidery and quilting workshops. My signature work is realistic nature quilts, but I have this passion for texture and stitching which I now incorporate in art quilts. I also paint fabric under the brush rags label since 2001.
