About me

Introduction A writer and teacher on Cape Ann and Boston's North Shore, I am currently looking for an agent for my completed nonfiction memoir "Mad Mom: A Cautionary Tale of Choosing Single Motherhood Without a Support Network." I was the only single mother featured in Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Jennifer Egan's "New York Times Magazine" cover story "Wanted: A Few Good Sperm" (3/19/06). Also I have been featured in a piece on athletic sperm donors and their offspring (8/26/08) on "E:60", ESPN's prime-time sports newsmagazine, as well as in a segment about single mothers by choice via artificial insemination (3/17/06) on "On Point with Tom Ashbrook" on WBUR, Boston's NPR station. A former writer and editor with the "Christian Science Monitor," I hold a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.F.A. from Emerson College. My two young sons and I live on Cape Ann where I eat too much chocolate.
