| Introduction | I am a half-Egyptian, half-German multimedia journalist, who grew up alternating between both countries. My work is defined by my studies at the American University in Cairo (AUC). As an attempt to settle down a bit, I returned to Germany, where politics seem rather boring compared to the Middle East. Here I worked as a freelance political editor, writing press reviews for clients such as the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the European Parliament and EADS. Since freelancing is quite exhausting, I started a steady job at the Travanto Travel GmbH - a company, which owns and manages more than 140 websites for online holiday home rental all across Europe. After doing my time in customer service, I was recruited to be the social media manager of Travanto. Aside from all that I'm trying to get back on that journalism and photography horse. Torn between nostalgia for my experiences in Egypt and German social and political "progress", I am trying to juggle my identity issues, while improving my social media skills. |
